Rashaida/Harar pendant, Ethiopia
Antique Quran box from The Rashaida people in Harar area, Ethiopia, also worn on the Highlands by the Bilen people. From around 1930 or earlier, collected on place by a traveler in the 70’s. Very good silver content that shows age. The little floral design at the front side often shows up on the better pieces like this one. Also, the bells are of the better work with its ribbed edge.
It can be opened on one side to place some Quran verses or prayers.
