Old  silver hirz necklace, Yemen

Big antique Yemenite necklace, with a big hirz and silver round beads. It was made and worn by Yemenite Jewish. On the back of the pendant, there’s an inscription in Hebrew, which might be the name of the silversmith.

The hirz can be opened on one side and was used to store some magical or amuletic words for protection.

From the beginning of the 20th Century or earlier. The snake chain is newer.

In very good conditions.

Very good silver content.


The central hirz amulet measures 12 cm x 4 cm (4,72 x 1,57 in).
The length of the necklace is 80 cm (31,5 in)
Weight: 170 gr
