Pair of silver bracelets, Oman

Pair of silver bracelets from Oman. They are called “hewagil manfukha” (inflated bracelets). They consisits of a continuous curved, hollow tube of silver, narrow where it went around the back of the wrist, but broadening nd flaterring our considerably where it appeared at the front of the wrist. The silver of the broad, flat part of the bracelet was frequently ornamented  with intricately chased patterns, often geometric in design.

This style of bracelet comes from Idri and it is mainly worn by the women of the Dhahirah in the North of Oman.

High grade silver.

From the first half of the 20th century or earlier.
